Gyigye Privacy Notice

This notice explains how Palmer Group Limited (“Gyigye”, “we”, “us”), a company registered in the Republic of Ghana, located at 100 Palm Ave, Oyarifa, GPS GE-143-3461, Ghana, collects, protects, and manages your personal data when you join our waitlist, use our application, or interact with our services at gyigye.com.
What we collect
- Your name, verified Ghanaian mobile phone number, and (optionally) email address
- Your gender, who you'd like to meet, your city (Accra or Kumasi), and age range
- Profile photos (reviewed by human moderators before publication) and dating intent
- How you heard about Gyigye and optional referral codes
- Basic technical security telemetry (scrambled IP hash, browser user agent) for rate limiting and bot mitigation
Why we collect it
- To send you personal SMS invitation passcodes and authenticate your sign-in
- To admit members in balanced community waves ensuring a healthy gender and geographic ratio
- To protect our members from romance scams, impersonation, and fraudulent spam
- To facilitate mutual matching and safe 1-on-1 private messaging
We will never sell your information or disclose your phone number or data to advertisers.
Payments & Mobile Money Data Handling
When you purchase optional prepaid Gyigye Plus passes, your payment is processed by Paystack, our payment provider.
- Zero PIN Access: Transactions are confirmed through your Mobile Money provider prompt (MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash, or AirtelTigo Money). Gyigye never sees, collects, transmits, or stores your Mobile Money wallet PIN, OTPs, or financial secrets.
- Data Shared with Paystack: Only transaction metadata (purchase amount in GHS, currency, phone number, and a unique transaction reference) is transmitted to initiate the charge.
- Data Received by Gyigye: Upon completion, Paystack notifies our systems of transaction success or failure, timestamp, and transaction ID so your prepaid pass can be credited.
Who helps us run the service
We work exclusively with vetted, security-compliant service providers who operate strictly on our instructions:
- Supabase — encrypted database hosting with Row-Level Security isolation
- Cloudflare — DDoS mitigation, SSL encryption, and Turnstile bot protection
- SMS Providers (Hubtel / Arkesel) — licensed telecom SMS routes to deliver your OTPs
- Paystack — our payment provider for Mobile Money transactions
- Resend — transactional email delivery for administrative alerts
Because some of our service providers (such as Supabase, Cloudflare, Resend, and Paystack) store or process data on infrastructure located outside Ghana (including the United Kingdom, European Union, and the United States), your personal information may be transferred and processed abroad. In compliance with Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), we ensure that appropriate technical security safeguards, encrypted transfer protocols, and strict contractual data protection commitments are maintained for all cross-border data transfers.
Data retention & deletion
Waitlist details are retained until you activate your account or up to 12 months after public launch. You may delete your account at any time through the in-app Settings, which permanently removes your profile, photos, and messages.
Safety and moderation records (for example, reports and the actions we took) may be kept after an account is deleted, to protect other members and prevent repeat abuse. These records don't include your photos or messages.
Your rights
Under Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), you have the right to request access to your personal data, request corrections, or require permanent erasure.
